#TBT Words of Owls: Egypt [Live @ Cornerstone Festival 2012]

Welcome to another edition of #TBT here at Autumn Peal!

I’d like to introduce you to my friend Brenton AKA Words of Owls. I met him at Cornerstone at their final festival where we saw each other at the Impact Stage with my other friends. He did spoken word (which I’d like it if he did that again) at the time which was really good.

Feel free to download his record for free at http://wordsofowls.bandcamp.com.

Also, check out his current Acoustic/sadcore project Poor at http://notreallypoor.bandcamp.com.

[#TBT] Destroy Nate Allen: Recipe [Live @ Cornerstone Festival 2012]

Here’s this week’s edition of #TBT.

This is husband/wife folk punk duo Destroy Nate Allen. They played a set at the Creation Station stage and got everybody singing and clapping along. Yes, you can hear me singing along in the background to their ode to cooking. Remember, you have to follow the recipe the first time that you do it!

[#TBT] Hope for the Dying: The Awakening (Live @ Cornerstone 2012)

Time for another #TBT video.

I can’t believe it’s been almost 5 years since the final Cornerstone. I still miss that festival. This is Hope for the Dying, who are a metal band from Southern Illinois. I met these guys back in 2009 and saw most of their sets back when they were on Strike First Records (Facedown’s developmental imprint).

[#TBT] Self Proclaimed Narcissist: Surgical Extraction [Live @ Cornerstone 2012]

Here’s a Throwback Thursday video!

I really miss Cornerstone. Here’s my friend Erik AKA Self Proclaimed Narcissist performing at the final Cornerstone ever back in 2012 with his song Surgical Extraction.

[#TBT] Those Know-It-Alls & Their Mighty Causes: The Calling of John (Live at Cornerstone 2012)

Here’s the throwback of the week dating back to 2012.

This was at the Final Cornerstone Festival down in Bushnell, Illinois. This chamber folk band known as Those Know-It-Alls & Their Mighty Causes busked alongside Doug Mains & The City Folk right outside the showers. All unplugged and ready to go, they were able to bless this small crowd who were ready for a folkin’ awesome good time.
Fun facts:

They are named after a Welcome Wagon song.
Some of the members are past and present members of The Oh Hellos.

[#TBT] The Skies Revolt: Scattered Giants @ Cornerstone Festival 2011

Here’s my first Throwback Thursday post. I’m taking you back to 2011 in Bushnell, Illinois. There used to be this one festival called Cornerstone down in Central Illinois that had a ton of great bands, movies, and activities there. However, it stopped in 2012. RIP Cornerstone. Here’s one of the first videos I took when I was there in 2011 when I saw The Skies Revolt. This was the last song on this set when they played the Solace stage.

Check out their music at http://facebook.com/theskiesrevolt.
